Vita
After graduating in Communication Design from Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences in 2012, I began working as an illustrator and art director for agencies, publishers and cultural institutions. Alongside commissioned work, my practice extends into comics, publishing, education and collaborative projects.
In 2014, my graphic novel debut Earth Unplugged was nominated for the Max and Moritz Prize. Since then, I have continued to explore narrative forms through both independent and commissioned work. My publications include the children’s book Drachendisco (with author Jepe Wörz), the graphic novel Das Gutachten (Carlsen, 2022), its French edition L’Expert (Casterman, 2024), and the anthology Het Onvoorstelbare Verbeeld / The Unimaginable Imagined(Scratch Books, 2024), developed in collaboration with historians and memorial institutions in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.
Das Gutachten was nominated for the Max and Moritz Prize, shortlisted for the Berthold Leibinger Comic Book Prize and received the ICMA Gold Award for Best Graphic Novel. In 2025, L’Expert was selected for the Sélections Officielles of the Angoulême International Comics Festival.
Collaboration plays an important role in my work. Together with six fellow illustrators, I co-founded Studio Rabotti, a shared studio and creative network in Düsseldorf. Since 2020, I have also co-hosted the podcast Art, Work & Progress with comic artist Franziska Ruflair, where we discuss creative practice, authorship and the realities of working in the arts.
Since 2018, I have been teaching comics and visual storytelling at Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences. Alongside my teaching and publishing activities, my work has been shown in exhibitions and international contexts, including the Illustration Week in Tel Aviv, the Goethe-Institut in Lyon and the Cité Internationale Universitaire in Paris.
